OPEN CALL FOR CRISIS PREPAREDNESS & RESILIENCE BUILDING TRAINING

Dear Partners,

We are delighted to announce our upcoming training program aimed at bringing together transgender community leaders from across the South Caucasus region. At this moment where resilience in the face of crises is paramount, we are excited to offer a platform for transgender individuals to convene, exchange insights, and promote cooperation among one another. Through our collaborative efforts, we hope to promote diversity, and inclusion, and, above all, equip participants with the tools needed to navigate challenges and advocate for LGR in our context.

Host Organization: Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO

Location: Tbilisi, Georgia

Duration: 3 days, May 9-11, 2024

Deadline for Submission: April 15, 2024

Context: Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO has launched the “Strengthening Trans Organizing Resiliency & Capacity to Advocate for Legal Gender Recognition in the Conflict Affected Larger South Caucasus Region” project. Crisis Preparedness & Resilience Building Training is going to be implemented within the framework of the project which aims to empower trans and LGBQI communities in the region. By enhancing our resilience during crises and amplifying our voices in advocating for legal gender recognition (LGR) without forced sterilization, we strive to bring about positive legislative changes across the region.

Objective: The primary objective of this training is to empower 25 transgender community members from the region in crisis preparedness. This training will equip participants with essential knowledge, skills, and strategies to effectively respond to crises within their communities, thereby enabling the participants to continue advocating for transgender rights and legal gender recognition (LGR) in their respective contexts.

Training Details: The training will take place over three days in Tbilisi, Georgia, on May 9-11, 2024. The expert and facilitators will lead interactive sessions and peer learning activities, focusing on crisis preparedness and empowering participants with practical tools for risk assessment, resilience-building, and advocacy.

Who Can Participate: The training is open to Transgender representatives of LGBTI organizations working in the larger South Caucasus region. A maximum of two individuals per organization can attend the training.

Financial Support: Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO will cover transportation costs, accommodation, and meals for the selected participants.

How to Apply: Interested individuals should submit their applications by April 15, 2024, including:

  • Name and affiliation of the organization
  • Names and roles of the proposed participants
  • A brief explanation of how participation in the training will benefit their organization’s work in advancing transgender rights in their respective contexts.
