THE FINAL EXHIBITION EVENT OF THE “BUILDING TRANS MEDIA INFLUENCE THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING AND CONTENT CREATION” PROJECT WAS HELD

The Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO, summarizing the project “Building Trans Media Influence through Capacity Building and Content Creation”, carried out the final exhibition-event of the project on 21st of February, 2024. Within the framework of this project implemented with the financial support of ILGA Europe, a series of important stories about trans people living in Armenia and Central Asia were created and published, increasing the visibility of trans people’s issues.

The event was attended by more than 50 Trans, LGBIQ, and sex workers community members and activists from both Armenia and the region. Milena Abrahamyan, the project manager, made a welcome speech, introduced the authors of the media products, and invited everyone to watch the exhibition.

During the event, 7 stories about the lives of trans and non-binary people from Armenia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan, created and published in the last 3 months within the framework of the project, were presented. The stories are in the format of photo gallery, video, and interview, presenting the lives, relationships, success, challenges, solidarity, disappointments, and dreams of trans people living in these countries.

The visual part of the exhibition consisted of a display of photographs created during this project and a screening of a video, and the interviews were printed so that the participants could read and discuss them.

By implementing this project, the Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO aims to inspire and motivate trans people, as well as to change the stereotypical attitude of society towards them, by sharing stories representing real experiences.
