“Right Side” Human Rights Defender NGO organizes its annual Trans Camp for trans people and trans activists, trans allies and trans family members from March 26 to 28, 2021 The following topics will be discussed during the camp:
Human rights;
Stigma, discrimination;
The situation of transgender people in Armenia;
Hate-based violence and hate speech;
Creating a safe and secure environment in the family;
Mechanisms for protecting the interests of trans family members;
Legal gaps in hormone therapy and gender reassignment in Armenia;
The situation of trans activism in Armenia;
The situation of sex worker in Armenia;
The main aim of the course is to promote the development and empowerment of the transgender community, improve the level of involvement of the transgender community in the socio-cultural and civic life, and ensure their safety both in their family and in society.
The following people can participate in the camp:
People who consider themselves trans activists or transgender people, who are at least 18 years-old and live in the Republic of Armenia;
Family members of transgender people (mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, etc.).
Participation of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons or persons with disabilities and sex workers is encouraged.
The traveling, lodging and food costs are covered by the “Right Side” human rights defender organization.
The number of participants is very limited.
Application deadline is March 24 at Yerevan time 23.59 incl.
The camp will be held in one of the recreation zones of Armenia: information about the place will only receive selected participants.
