“Remembering Nikita” Exhibition Held in Memory of a Young Trans Activist

The regular observance of LGBTIQ+ remembrance and awareness days within Right Side NGO’s safe space has helped cultivate a unique culture rooted in memory, care, love, and justice. The safe space is more than a physical shelter it is also a place where people can speak about their pain, remember those they have lost, and feel less alone in their grief.

In 2025, a deeply moving and meaningful event was held here an exhibition titled “Remembering Nikita.” Nikita was a young trans activist who died by suicide in Armenia after facing continuous gender-based pressure and social isolation. The exhibition featured photos from Nikita’s life, personal letters, creative works, and stories shared by those who knew and loved her.

During the event, Nikita’s friends and community members reflected on the moments they had shared with her, recounting memories and emotions. It was a powerful space of presence and remembrance where it felt like Nikita was still with them. At the same time, participants spoke about the painful realities that contributed to her loss: mental health struggles, societal rejection, and the complete indifference of the state.
