The Let's Accept roundtable discussion was held

On April 29 of this year, a roundtable discussion was held, which was attended by media representatives, bloggers, people raising the visibility of LGBTI people on media platforms, TRANS LGBTI activists and parents from Yerevan and different regions of Armenia.

The goal of the meeting was to create ways of cooperation between the attendees to reduce the widespread hate speech against the LGBTI community by media representatives.

At the official opening of the meeting, the organization’s president, transgender activist Lilit Martirosyan, spoke about the widespread hate speech, anti-gender rhetoric in the RA media, and the impact of all this on the quality of life of community representatives.

The absence of laws, the dismissal of cases by the police, and the targeting of LGBTI people by opposition figures contribute to the formation of an atmosphere of insecurity.

In his speech, the organization's lawyer, Artur Margaryan, highlighted the legal cases being conducted by the organization, which reflect the increase in cases of discrimination, hate speech, and attacks against the community.

Transgender activists spoke about their activism on social media and their activities aimed at preventing hate speech against the community.

Activist, blogger Kuka Kasyan told about the ongoing hate speech against her, receiving threats in personal letters, and suggested fighting against false information together.

Unfounded, false information about LGBTI people by public figures and news websites in recent months was presented, followed by various hateful and threatening comments from the public.

The meeting was held within the framework of the "Fighting Anti-Gender and Anti-Trans Rhetoric in Armenia" program, with the financial support of ILGA Europe.
