“Rights Side” HRD NGO is looking for a Research Expert to conduct a study on the protection of GBTIQ individuals’ rights during conscription and military service

Program Description

“Rights Side” NGO plans to conduct a comprehensive study aimed at documenting rights violations, discrimination, and violence against GBTIQ individuals during conscription and military service. The study aims to identify systemic and institutional barriers affecting the safety, dignity, and realization of the rights of GBTIQ individuals.

The research results will be presented in a report that will serve as a tool for advocacy and policy reform, and will contribute to the inclusion of GBTIQ individuals in the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.

At this stage, we expect the expert to focus on the work of the first phase of the research.

Objective and Scope of Work – Phase 1

The expert is expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Develop the overall research methodology

  • Prepare questionnaires, interview guides, and other data collection tools

  • Prepare data collection mechanisms, including:

    • Approaches for documenting rights violations through volunteers

    • Questionnaires directed to human rights organizations

    • A secure and anonymous online reporting system

  • Begin data collection for Phase 1

  • Ensure an ethical approach, maintaining data confidentiality and participant safety

  • Collaborate closely with the program team

Deliverables

  • Research methodology document

  • Complete package of questionnaires and research tools

  • Data collection plan

  • Summary of preliminary data collected during Phase 1

  • Brief report on Phase 1 implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in human rights, gender equality, or LGBTIQ rights

  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research

  • Experience working with military institutions is an advantage

  • Ability to work ethically on sensitive topics

  • Strong analytical and writing skills

  • Excellent command of Armenian

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively

Payment Terms

Payment will be made in two phases according to the contract:
