The government adopted the 2025-2028 strategy and action plan for the implementation of gender policy in the RA.

Today, on April 23, the Government of Armenia approved the 2025–2028 Strategy for the Implementation of Gender Policy and its corresponding action plan.

“Right Side” Human Rights Defender NGO welcomes this important step as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to advancing gender equality and eliminating discrimination.

However, alongside strategic policy documents, it is urgent to adopt a comprehensive Equality Law that will provide clear legal safeguards for the protection of human rights. This law must explicitly include gender identity and sexual orientation as protected grounds against discrimination.

Such legal recognition is a crucial step toward ensuring that all people—including LGBTIQ+ individuals—can fully and safely participate in all aspects of public life without fear, marginalization, or violence.

Right Side will continue to monitor the implementation of the strategy, amplify the voices of LGBTIQ+ and marginalized communities, and demand government accountability in protecting the human rights for all.
