March 31 Visibility and Empowerment Celebrated with the Trans Community

The LGBTIQ+ safe space created by Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO continues to serve not only as a space for safety, but also as a place for celebrating community victories and important milestones. Commemorative and awareness days are regularly observed here, giving LGBTIQ+ community members the opportunity to come together, share experiences, express themselves, and make their struggles and resistance visible.

On March 31, 2025, the space hosted an event dedicated to the International Transgender Day of Visibility. Dozens of trans and non-binary members of the LGBTIQ community, along with allies, gathered to celebrate the dignity of being trans, raise awareness about the challenges, violence, and legal gaps trans people face, and stand together against hate and discrimination.

Participants openly discussed the stereotypes and systemic barriers that trans people in Armenia continue to experience, including the lack of access to healthcare, education, and legal protection. This day of visibility became not only a celebration, but also a powerful reminder that every trans person has the right to exist, to dream, to love, and to build a safe and dignified future.
