We have lost another trans activist.

A few days ago, Nikita Engibaryan was found dead in her apartment.
Nikita was a trans activist who, for years, raised her voice about the challenges our community faces—speaking openly about systemic injustice, rejection, and discrimination.

Her  body was discovered only last night in her apartment by a member of our community.

This is a heavy, painful, and unacceptable loss for the trans community.

The entire trans community is grieving this loss deeply.
The team at Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO is in contact with Nikita’s family and stands beside them during this difficult time.

We note that, as of now, the circumstances surrounding Nikita’s death have not yet been fully clarified.
While suicide is currently being considered as one possible explanation, the official investigation is ongoing, including to determine whether this was a suicide or a case of incitement to suicide.
According to preliminary information from police and forensic examiners, no signs of physical violence were found on Nikita’s body.
Our legal team is in contact with law enforcement, and we will share further updates as the investigation progresses.

Information about the funeral and memorial will be shared with the family’s consent.
