Legal

One of the key objectives of Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO is to provide free legal services to its beneficiaries. These services aim to resolve legal issues faced by the organisation’s members, beneficiaries, their family members, and supporters, thereby contributing to their overall legal protection. In addition to offering direct legal support, the organisation’s legal team also conducts research, documents and collects cases of violations against Trans, LGBIQ individuals, and sex workers, which are included in annual reports. Moreover, the team actively contributes to legislative and policy reforms by developing legal initiatives, procedural mechanisms, and advocacy tools.
To receive legal assistance, beneficiaries must submit an application to the organisation’s president. This application should include a description of the issue, the type of service requested, and the applicant’s personal information (name, surname, address, phone number, and email). If approved, an agreement for the provision of free legal services is signed, and the legal team begins work immediately. In urgent situations where in-person application is not possible, the beneficiary may report the issue to the community outreach worker by phone. The outreach worker will then inform the organisation’s president and legal team to initiate assistance.
The legal services provided by Right Side NGO include:
- Representation in civil, criminal, labour, and administrative disputes;
- Representation before state institutions, including the police, ministries (such as the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia), and other governmental bodies, organisations, as well as interactions with legal and physical persons;
- Legal consultations, available both by phone and in person at the office.
During the entire period of legal support, beneficiaries are expected to refrain from spreading offensive or defamatory information, issuing threats, or engaging in any unlawful behaviour towards Right Side NGO or its staff
