Punlic Statement
Lilit Martirosyan and the Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO continue to be targeted by coordinated disinformation attacks. In recent days, a video has been circulated on the social platform “ANBAC,” in which an unidentified individual, wearing a mask and concealing their identity, presents false, manipulative, and defamatory claims. The video spreads fabricated allegations attempting to draw the organization and its president, Lilit Martirosyan, into political narratives and to link them to foreign actors, particularly Turkey, as well as to Armenian public officials. It falsely claims that the organization receives secret support, holds meetings abroad to promote LGBT events in Armenia, and that Lilit Martirosyan maintains active political connections. The video also misuses publicly available social media materials produced by the organization, presenting them in a distorted and decontextualized manner.
These claims are entirely baseless and appear intended to incite hostility, discredit the organization’s work, and portray it as part of political agendas. Such propaganda is especially dangerous within an already transphobic and discriminatory environment, as it increases the risk of hate speech, threats, and real harm to both the organization’s staff and the communities it serves.
Right Side NGO is a human rights organization dedicated to the protection of fundamental rights and is not affiliated with any political agenda or foreign government interests.
We call on the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the investigative authorities to:
- conduct an immediate and thorough investigation,
- identify the individuals responsible for producing and disseminating this material,
- provide a legal assessment of actions that incite hatred and spread disinformation,
- ensure the safety and security of Lilit Martirosyan and the organization.
We also urge the public to refrain from sharing unverified information, resist manipulation, and respect human rights and human dignity.
